Vaginal Rings
The ring is 98% effective against pregnancy when used correctly. Vaginal rings work in the same way as patches but instead of releasing the hormones transdermally (from the plaster applied to your skin) the ring is inserted into the vagina. Rings contain hormones. While the ring is inside you it slowly releases the synthetic Estrogen and Progestogen hormones that it contains so it leaves you protected all month long.
The combinations of hormones help keep the sperm away from the egg buy doing two things. Firstly the hormones released from the ring stop the egg from being released by the ovary and secondly the hormones help to thicken the cervical mucus so the sperm cannot get to the egg, even if it was released. If the sperm can't fertilize the egg then no conception can take place.
Unlike birth control pills you do not need to deal with daily dosing. The vaginal ring is inserted into the vagina and is left there for 3 weeks. At the end of 3 weeks you take it out, wait a week and then insert a new ring. During this week's break you should get your period.
Sounds scary? Not really. Inserting a vaginal ring is no more difficult or painful than inserting a Tampax. It's surprisingly simple…. and effective. The ring is flexible and small and if you have inserted it correctly, you can go the entire three weeks without feeling it inside you. If you do feel it then try pushing it up a bit further – that normally helps.
We also sell Spermicidal pessaries on BuyBirthControl.com - it's another form of birth control that you can buy online. While it's not one of the more common forms of birth control methods it's surprisingly easy to use and it's effective too. Check out the other tab to read more...
